Although the Trijicon RMR set the gold standard for micro reflex sights, it was originally designed for use on rifles, not reciprocating pistol slides. In 2017 Trijicon updated the design to the Type 2 standard, with improved battery connections and improved durability in pistol applications. The RMR Type 2 also added a lockout feature to prevent unwanted brightness adjustments, and a battery conservation mode that automatically adjusts the dot brightness to ambient light after 16.5 hours without a button press.
The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is the professionals’ choice for pistol mounted red dots. It is still the standard by which all other pistol dots are measured.
